Later on, I have an idea of replacing the dot of the letter 'i' with an ornament.
I choose to upload the second and third designs as my week 11 progress. Next, I decided to work more on the second design because Design 3 has too much distortion.
While modifying design 2, I suddenly have an idea of putting 'Merry Christmas' on an ornament so that the typeface would not be distorted as design 3.
Figure 2.3 Reference 1, 14.6.2021
I used figure 2.3 as a reference to choose the colors for the ornament. I tried the red and gold color for the ornaments. During the coloring process, I also added some elements (snowflakes) to the ornament.
Figure 2.4 Progress, 17.6.2021
After I got the feedback from Mr. Vinod and Mr. Shamsul, I decided to add a hyphen to the word 'Christmas' and change the color of the ornament.
After that, I decided to go for the design with asterisks act as the snowflakes on the ornament.
Later on, I did some research on the colors of the ornament and I decided to use the figure as the reference.

I then decided to use red and green as the main colors instead of gold. Besides, I added the green stripes on the ornament.

Mr. Vinod also reminded me that something that is round will not have only one direction gradient. Hence, I did some modifications to the bell of the ornament.

Lastly, I added a 7pt white outline. I decided to not have the white offline path on the top of the sticker because the string should be longer than that and not ending there.

Week 14
After getting feedback from Mr. Vinod, I decided to work on it and resubmit my sticker. I modified the latch of the ornament.

FEEDBACK
Week 11
Specific Feedback:
Mr. Vinod said that Merry Christmas (Figure 1.4) is not "merry" enough and only one ornament there. It needs to be more "merrier". The second design (Figure 1.5) has too much distortion. For the 2nd feedback, it is more "merrier" (Figure 1.6). Besides, Mr. Vinod said that he likes design 3 (Figure 1.7) but still needs to work more on the ornament because it looks like a lamp now.
General Feedback:
Do not leave too many empty spaces. Getting there but still need some work.
Week 12
Specific Feedback:
Mr. Vinod said that I should add a hyphen because I break the word 'Christmas'. Besides, Mr. Shamsul said that I can add some lines to the ornament. Mr. Shamsul also suggests that I should use ornaments as a part of decoration and give the focus to the typeface. For the second feedback, Mr. Vinod and Mr. Shamsul said that Figure 3.4 looks good and go with that. Mr. Vinod said the gradient for the bell can be better.
General Feedback:
Add 7pt white outline and need to have a screenshot of the sticker in telegram chat for submission.
Week 13
Specific Feedback:
Mr. Vinod said that the rendering is good, but improvement still needed at the top end of the sticker (the latch on the ball) which doesn't look like it is sitting on the ball.
REFLECTION
Experience:
Creating a sticker is a very new thing to me and I love this task. I think that creating stickers is fun and interesting. At first, I think that this was an easy task because we need to create a small sticker only but I was wrong. We are limited to 10 typefaces and we can only use minimal graphic elements to express the wishes make this task more challenging. I struggled at first because I think that it is very hard to express the word 'Merry Christmas' using only that 10 typefaces. Hence, I decided to use different typefaces instead of sticking to only one typeface. Besides, I arranged them up and down instead of having them aligned to the baseline.
Observations:
I should pay more attention to little things. At first, I think that shadow is a small thing and it is ok to not have it. However, after I added the shadow, the typeface can stand out more. Hence, I should not ignore the little details in design. Besides, I observed that I need to improve on my sketches because I always cannot imagine my design in sketches. My outcome will always be very different from my sketches.
Findings:
I found out that choosing the right typeface is very important. Every typeface will have its own identity and they can convey different messages. Not just that, I found out that the study of colors are very important too. The gold and red that I first choose do not express the word 'Merry Christmas' well compared to the green and red that I chose at last.

Figure 1.8 Design Elements, Typography Fundamentals from Taylor's Library, 11.6.2021
I read the 'On Typefaces, Selection Consideration' part of this book. Typeface quality depends on character construction and how well the forms work together. We have to determine the medium, users, and viewing conditions before choosing the typeface. Lastly, observing type in practice is a great way to learn.
Figure 1.9 Design School, type, A Practical Guide for Students and Designers from Taylor's Library, 11.6.2021
I read the chapter 'Selecting Typefaces' of this book. There are no universal rules or guidelines that designers need to follow when selecting a typeface. The first and foremost consideration when
selecting a typeface must be meaning. Typefaces that share similar characteristics will be much more compatible with one another than typefaces that do not share these integral visual characteristics.
Figure 4.0 The language of graphic design from Taylor's library, 24.6.2021
I read the chapter 'Typography' of this book. Typography is a unique principle in vocabulary because it has dual functions (graphic element / verbal & visual). Typography is a reality as well as an abstraction in visual communications.
