Project 2 / Sense of Place

LECTURES

Week 9: 

We are given some ideas about the sense of place during the class. After that, Dr. Charles review our project 1, which is a self-portrait and gave us some feedback. 

Week 10:

Dr. Charles went outdoor for today's class. Dr. Charles showed us his garden and plants. Besides, Dr. Charles also showed us how he did some simple sketches at his garden on his iPad.

This is my "workspace". I chose this corner for this project because I spend most of my time here. After that, I tried to draw it out at Adobe Photoshop.

After that, I decided to add the flow of music because normally I will play music using my laptop. Later on, I added different textures and filters to this artwork.

Following this, I added more shadow to the artwork. Besides, I decided to remove some of the items on my desk and changed the movement of the flow of music.

This is the little corner that I spent most of the time since MCO started last year. I have to attend online classes and complete all my assignments here. Moreover, the pictures on the wall always remind me of good memories of my life. Most of the polaroid was taken at different high school events. I decided to remove some of the things on my table because I always hope that my table could be clean and tidy. Besides, I normally will play some music when I am working on something. Hence, I added the flow of music for this artwork.

FEEDBACK

Dr. Charles said that it is interesting to have my workspace to be the subject. It has a harmonious collection of things. Dr. Charles also said that he appreciates this work because he likes that I put my working space itself to be the subject matter. It is my working space so he said that he won't comment whether it is neat or untidy. 😂

BRIEF REFLECTION 

I struggled with this project because I do not know which place to choose. After that, I decided to just go for the place where I spent most of the time nowadays. This project reminded me that observations are very important. I realized that I normally did not pay attention to surroundings that I am familiar with. However, I did enjoy doing this project and learned a lot throughout the project.
