Week 10

I decided to sketch out my ideas for the "hibiscus" typeface and "kisses" typeface. I started with the "hibiscus" typeface. I wasn't sure about this idea, so I experimented with various shapes.

Following that, I move on to the kisses idea.

Later on, I was more satisfied with the kisses idea. Hence, I decided to digitalize kisses letterforms.

After that, I transfer all of the letterforms to a new artboard to compare and improve the letterform consistency.

Week 12

After some thought and consideration, I decided to design a poster with the headline "SHARE THE SWEET KISSES!" and chocolate kisses. The kisses and chocolates were then extracted from an image.

Later on, I'll look into packaging. I decided to make the background pattern out of kisses' shape.

I believe I should not be limited to the current Kisses chocolate packaging. As a result, I experimented with box packaging.

Week 10
Specific Feedback:
Mr. Vinod is in agreement with the four ideas I proposed in the proposal. Mr. Vinod suggested that I add more things to the tape idea. Mr. Vinod suggested that the letterforms be made interactive. Rollover, for example, because my specialization is UI/UX, or using tape letterforms to tell a tape story. The fourth idea will require a lengthy refinement process. Mr. Asrizal then advised me to avoid the tealive idea because it has a lot of backstory.

General Feedback: 
Design your type design in black and white

Week 11
Specific Feedback:
Mr. Vinod said that the typeface is consistent (Figure 2.1.6). Nice and it is going well. Mr. Vinod also said that there is still room for exploration but the solution that I got now also work. The R is an interesting R, can still work on it further. The other letters are fairly well but the J still more work on it. The base should be bigger.

Can start to think about the type applications.

Week 13
Specific Feedback:
Mr Vinod: Aiyaa the poster background >.< / Your choice of background colours for boxes and such... needs to improved. You have nailed the typeface, just choose a colour that compliments and provides contrast instead of choosing a tone that resembles or has similarities. Other than that good work.

REFLECTION

Experience: 
Tiring. This was a fun task, and I had a lot of fun designing a new typeface. At the same time, this task was very difficult for me, and I spent a lot of time digitizing the letterforms. Then I got stuck on the type application part. I was really struggling, but Mr. Vinod told me that I could make a simple poster like a headline poster from the 1970s using my typeface. I did feel a sense of relief after considering that suggestion. Low-key hoping for a short extension of the deadline.

Observations:
I've observed that some of my classmates have creative ideas for type design. They also manage to design it in such a short period of time, which I think is incredible! Furthermore, some of my classmates appeared to have great improvements in terms of design application, which I believe will be beneficial to learn from them.

Findings:
I discovered that I enjoy designing type. However, I believe that the final result could be improved further. Every detail must be considered because even minor changes can make a significant difference in type design.

From the chapter of the book called “letters”, it mentioned that fonts are an essential resource for graphic designers, just like glass, stone, steel and other materials are important materials for architects. Graphic designers may create their own fonts and custom lettering through their different forms of emotional responses. However, they often rely on a vast library of existing fonts to select and combine them for a particular audience or situation. Take the time, as a marketer or designer, to fully understand the emotions you want to elicit in your audience, so you can choose a typeface that both evokes this emotion and is consistent with your brand.

In summarize, designers spent time behind the scenes looking at the relationship between what the text looks like and what the text says. In reality, you can express different moods, moods, and emotions simply by changing the font. In conclusion, typography does more than just choose beautiful fonts. It is an integral part of user interface design. Good typography creates a powerful visual hierarchy, balances the graphics on your website, and sets the overall tone of your product. Typography needs to guide and notify users, improve readability and accessibility, and improve the user experience.
