REFLECTION
Experience:
I was looking forward to this typography class before this semester start. I think that typography is an interesting subject. However, I felt stressed after I attended the first class. This is because Mr. Vinod showed us all the works that we need to complete in these 14 weeks and I think that the works were a lot for this module. However, Mr. Vinod and Mr. Shamsul guided us very well. The deadlines set by them became my motivation to complete all the tasks. The 14 weeks journey for this module is interesting and I am grateful that I was able to complete all the tasks in this module.
Observations:
I observed that type could also express and convey the meaning of words without graphic elements and I think that it is amazing. Different typefaces could carry different meanings too. Typography requires good observation because there are many small differences in similar typefaces. Typography played a very important role in the design and it can affect the design a lot. After I attended the typography class, I started to obverse the different typography designs used in an artwork.
Findings:
I found out that I need to improve on my sketches. This is because I think that all my sketches could not express my ideas and my thoughts. Besides, I found out that Adobe InDesign is a very useful software for text arrangement and formatting. I also found out that type design is not an easy job. Type design requires us to look into details. Not just that, I realized that documentation of my progress is satisfying after I completed the task. Lastly, I learned a lot in this module and I am looking forward to the Advanced Typography in semester 2.
